Nutrition is the cornerstone to any meaningful training or wellness
program.
Diane King,
MS, RD, CSSD, ATC, is a Registered, Licensed Dietician, Certified
Specialist in Sports Dietetics, and NATA Certified Athletic
Trainer. Diane’s expertise in nutrition, health and wellness has
provided her with a variety of experiences. She has served as the
nutrition consultant with the Atlanta Falcons since 1994. During
this time she has overseen the sports nutrition component for
players that include weight loss, weight gain, body composition
analysis and performance programs. She provides meal planning
information, and sample menus including grocery store and local
restaurant information. She currently consults in several facilities
and works part-time as an Athletic Trainer for Children’s Healthcare
of Atlanta.
Diane
recently received the specialist certification in sports dietetics.
She sits on the committee that helped develop the certification
which includes helping to write the exam that all candidates must
qualify to take for this specialty recognition. She has also worked
this year with the Georgia High School Association to help develop
the nutrition education material that goes along with the new
Wrestling Minimum Weight Certification program that has been
implemented.
Recently,
Diane has been invited to be a part of the Gatorade Sports Nutrition
Network for 2007.
Because of her
experience in sports medicine with injuries and recovery, she can
discuss various diet plans to address the special needs for these
athletes as well. Diane was one of the Athletic Trainers at the
Aquatics Venue during the 1996 Olympic games and has worked with
sports medicine programs and occupational medicine at Dekalb Medical
Center and Rockdale hospital. She completed a certificate of
training for Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management in September
2003. Diane received a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Memphis
State University and a Master’s degree from Louisiana State
University in Human Nutrition and Exercise Physiology.
